About Eleve Education

Eleve Education is a private learning center offering individualized instruction and educational services for students of all ages.

Our educational programs are based on the teaching philosophy and methods of Élevé Théque of Japan.

Élevé Théque was established in 1996 in Saitama, Japan. For over twenty years, it has promoted the learning of over 800 children from all over Japan and the U.S.

We believe that every child, regardless of their developmental needs, must acquire and strengthen a set of skills and abilities needed for learning.

The highest priority of our  program is to develop children's foundational

ability to learn

We use the expression ability to learn to describe a child's ability to:

  • Look and listen attentively

  • Accept instruction and assistance from others

  • Understand and follow instructions and rules

  • Engage to a variety of things, even non-preferred matters with perseverance and diligence

When children successfully acquire the ability to learn, not only do they learn more effectively, they also become able to communicate better, pursue their own interests, and ultimately find their potential.

Our Philosophy

~Message from the Founder~

The ability to learn is a fundamental element of every child's life.

In our philosophy, there is one ability children must develop first and foremost. Before anything else, children must learn to follow instructions without constant supervision, accept assistance from others willingly, and pay attention even to things in which they are not interested. Children should understand right and wrong, “what one must not do” and “what one must do,” with motivation to persevere under these rules. A child who has refined all of these qualities has developed the ability to learn.

Our curriculum is specifically structured to teach this ability to learn. The first objective is to educate our students how to carefully observe and listen in order to hone their observation and perception skills. This becomes the foundation for all learning.

When children have developed the ability to learn through constant and persistent practice, they make remarkable progress in academics, communication, and everyday life. This is true for all children, typically developed children as well as children with developmental concerns. We firmly believe that the skills and abilities our students gain when developing the ability to learn are instrumental in ensuring quality of life and contribute to the child’s potential as they mature.

Élevé Theque has entered its 20th year since opening in January 1996. With our center in Saitama and a branch in Tokyo, we have students coming from all over Japan and even the U.S.

It is to our greatest excitement that one of our instructors, Fumie Kishiwada Nesbit, has decided to establish Eleve Education in Los Angeles, California. We sincerely hope that the teaching principles and methods of Élevé Theque prove beneficial to your child’s growth and development.

Greetings from the Director

At Eleve Education, we are committed to teaching children the skills, abilities, and knowledge necessary to promote their learning experience. Founded on the teaching principles of Élevé Théque of Japan, our primary goal is to develop and refine children’s ability to learn.

Our educational programs use academic learning as the main tool to improve not only academic skills but also the fundamental skills needed for learning. In our teaching philosophy, a right or wrong answer is not of great importance. We place a higher importance on foundational steps such as greeting properly, maintaining eye contact while being spoken to, keeping good posture when sitting, and writing neatly. For any child, these small accomplishments become the basis for developing the ability to learn.

As an instructor at Élevé Théque, I saw firsthand the ways in which children can become competent learners over time. Through persistent practice of foundational steps, children not only improve their academic skills, they also conquer numerous challenges in everyday life. Before I began teaching at Élevé Theque, I had the pleasure to teach children in the U.S. and in Japan. Despite cultural and societal differences, challenges such as academic difficulties or behavioral problems faced by children and their families are the same. Nurturing children’s ability to learn plays an important role in overcoming such challenges and allowing children to thrive.

We at Eleve Education hope to make a difference in each child's life as we strengthen and refine their ability to learn through our unique approach. By working closely with our student’s parents, family, and school teachers, we can ensure children master each foundational step allowing them to grow and discover their potential.
